Our practice caters for all common conditions.
The jelly-like center of a lumbar disc can break through the tough outer layer and irritate a nearby nerve root. If this occurs, this can result in the body increasing inflammation around the area which may in turn, irritate or compress nerve roots which are close in proximity. This can lead to nerve root pain. The disc wall is also richly supplied by nerve fibres and a tear through the wall can cause severe pain.
